Having completed my first week of concentrated efforts on my artistic endeavors I have a few thoughts and reflections that I'd like to share.
First off, I'm having a great time. It is so fulfilling to be able to create all day and not have to worry about squeezing it in between other household needs and obligations. I have been following a regular schedule of writing in the morning and working on this website and related pieces in the afternoon. At some point I expect to work less on the site and more on painting and photography, but as this is my first website so I'm learning as I go. I had no assets ready nor do I have the experience to know how all of the pieces fit together, so there has been a learning curve. I am grateful to my friend Johnny for being a huge help in answering my questions. While I am enjoying getting work done, I have figured out a few things. One, there will be good writing days and bad writing days. While we all know this, it is good to reflect on especially when slogging through a difficult writing session. Two, more personally, I cannot lock myself in my office or studio for huge blocks of time without other human interaction. I like working alone and getting things accomplished without distraction, however I am an extrovert at heart and require some outside interaction now and then. This week I have not gotten much of that and I can feel myself getting a little cabin feverish. I will have to schedule some time to get out in the world as the weeks progress. Third and final observation - this one quite a bit more whimsical - birds are fascinating creatures. My office window is at turf level and looks out at a grass-point-of-view. From my window I can see the birds flying and hopping around my lawn. This perspective in far more interesting than a normal view from up above. Well, it has been an exciting and educational week. I look forward to learning more, doing more, and posting more in the near future. Thanks for reading.
