news & blog |
Hi Everyone,
It has been a number of weeks since I blogged so I thought it was time for an update. I embarked on this endeavor about eight weeks ago and the time has gone by faster than I expected. I have been very busy and have focused most of my time on my novel, tentatively titled Sarah’s Still Life. I started with an original word goal of fifty-thousand words and, to date, I am just past the eighty-thousand word point. I still have a little to go to finish my first rough draft. After that I will have a lot to do to update and rework that draft in order to craft it into something special. The pieces are all in place but there is a lot of honing and refining to be done. I’m looking forward to the challenge and sharing the results with you as I go. In previous posts I dropped a little, one-line, blurb about the novel and I think it is only appropriate to give anyone kind enough to read this a little more information about the novel. Below is short synopsis of the story: Sarah Hall is a woman struggling to make something of her life. She is nearly thirty, single, and works in a small tea shop - work that she enjoys until she gets her paycheck. She dreams of being a food scientist but her dysfunctional family, piecemeal higher education, and lack of opportunities stand in her way at every turn. When the one who got away suddenly reenters her life things get even more complicated. As for my other activities, painting and photography, I have mostly been doing behind-the-scenes housekeeping and experimenting. I have been taking the time to varnish and sign some of my more recent works and have been experimenting with watercolors and some different techniques in acrylics but, so far, the results have been underwhelming. That said, I will continue to create as time and the muse permit. I will post updates as new creations are made and older ones cataloged. Lastly, because I only have access to limited analytics I don’t really know how many, if any one, is actually reading these blog posts. If you are reading this and find it enjoyable I ask that you please subscribe in the contact area which can be found here. That way you can be updated when new blogs are posted and other updates are made and I can know who is interested in the site. Thank you for reading.
